I’ve created native WP gallery in my post but would like a menu page that links to the galleries as the demo shows.
How am I to link/integrate the WP galleries from the posts on a menu page ‘GALLERIES’. And how would I add future galleries to the same menu page GALLERIES. Will they be separate, or all images together in one big gallery?
Does the theme auto display native galleries – they display beautifully, just wondering if you can switch the stacking or if it’s automatically done based on the number of images.
To create a page with the galleries similar to the one in the demo (http://storyteller.mauer.co/galleries-showcase/):
1. Please go ‘Pages’ > ‘Add New’ in your Admin Panel.
2. Add galleries to this page in a regular WP way (‘Add Media’ button > ‘Create Gallery’). See video instruction here: https://videopress.com/v/GKoEC54c.
On the front end, images stack up automatically. If you add an odd number of images to a gallery (e.g. 5), the last row will have 3 images. And if you add an even number (e.g. 4), the last row will have 2 images.
3. After you’ve created the page, go to ‘Appearance’ > ‘Menus’ in the Admin Panel, and add your newly created page to the menu. Here is a video instruction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2RvizFq7As
Then to add new galleries (or new images to existing galleries) to the page you’ve created, just edit the page and use the same native WP gallery interface that is mentioned in step 2.
So this way you’ll have a page on your menu with a gallery/galleries that you can add images to.
Thanks Paul. So, to make sure I’m understanding – You would be creating the same gallery twice (one in the post and one in the designated Menu page).
Practically, yes. The galleries exist inside posts/pages. So you can’t create one gallery and use it in different posts. You’d have to recreate it (e.g. by copy-pasting the ‘gallery’ shortcode in the ‘text’ editor mode).
