Hello Paul, the instagram feed is not displaying correctly anymore. Is this related to the update of the theme? Can you please check it. Thanks!

    I’ll join this one.

    The Instagram-module returns:
An error occured while getting Instagram images. Please double-check your settings. Original error text: "This endpoint has been retired"

    From Instagram developer page:

    UPDATE
The remaining Instagram Legacy API permission (“Basic Permission”) was disabled on June 29, 2020. As of June 29, third-party apps no longer have access to the Legacy API. To avoid disruption of service to your app and business, developers previously using the Legacy API should instead rely on Instagram Basic Display API and Instagram Graph API. Please request approval for required permissions through the App Review process.

Legacy API user identifier available on Basic Display API until September 30, 2020
To assist with migration, we have temporarily made the unique user identifier from the Legacy API – ig_id – available on Basic Display API. However, the ig_id field will be deprecated on Basic Display API on September 30, 2020, so please ensure you are using other fields (e.g. the Facebook “id” field) or your own unique identifier for your users. See our developer documentation here to learn more.

    User Token Generator
If you’re only using the Legacy API to generate tokens in order to display your Instagram Feed on a personal website, you can use the Instagram Basic Display API’s User Token Generator to continue generating tokens. The User Token Generator does not require App Review, but it will only work for your owned Instagram accounts (i.e. accounts for which you know the login credentials). Refer to the developer documentation here to learn more. If you’re using the Legacy API to display multiple accounts on your website, then you must apply for permissions to Instagram Basic Display API via App Review. If you’re using the Legacy API for any other use case, you must apply for permissions on the Instagram Graph API platform via App Review.

    More Tips
For more guidance on getting through our App Review process, please see this blog post. For more tips and tools, check out our App Review Rejection Results Guide, Common App Review Rejection Reasons and Developer Tools page. We also encourage you to leverage the Facebook Developer Community Forum – it’s a tremendously helpful resource for communicating and connecting with developers across the world.

Hello Paul, can you help with this? Is this something we have to do ourselves? Thanks

    Hello,

As Evgeni has kindly mentioned, Instagram has changed its API (the rules under which other developers can access their data). We are currently working on bringing the new API into the themes and hope to ship the updates compatible with the new API very soon. However, this will require a review from Facebook (who own Instagram), so I can not tell when exactly these updates will be shipped, because I don’t know how long it will take Facebook to review the app and confirm fair use of the API.

Please stay tuned for the theme updates. You should receive an email once an update is available on ThemeForest.

    Regards,
    Paul

Hello Paul, I installed the update and also the Instagram plug in. Everything works great on the desktop version. However, on the mobile version the instagram pictures are very big, completely different to what you had before. Is there a way of adjusting it to how it looked before? Thanks, Celia

Hi, I’m using the Narrator theme, I’ve the same issue with the Instagram feed, and I’d need to know how to fix it. I’ve just renewed the support service. Thank you, Tommaso

    Hello,

An updated version of Narrator with working Instagram feed has been out on ThemeForest for a while. Please go to your Downloads section on ThemeForest and download the latest version. It has integration with a third-party plugin that will display your feed just as in the demo.

Please see the following section in the User Guide for detailed instructions: Instagram Feed Setup.

    A little context:
Facebook (who own Instagram) have changed Instagram API mid-summer 2020 and they made the old tokens that you may have acquired obsolete. Also, due to COVID-19, Facebook has paused developer verification which is needed to start accessing Instagram data after the API change. Until Facebook resumes developer verification, Mauer Themes has switched to a third-party plugin for displaying the Instagram feed.

    Regards,
    Paul

    Hello Kashif,

Here are step-by-step instructions on how to update the theme — link.

And to get Instagram running you’d need to follow “6. Instagram feed setup” section of this user guide.

If that does not help, please send me an email to pavel@mauer.co with the address of your website and your ThemeForest purchase code (here is how to know it) and I will provide you with more detailed instructions on how to update the theme and get Instagram running.

    Regards,
    Paul
