Hope you’re doing well; I have another “issue” on my end. I’m having an issue with square images, please take a look below:
With numerous regular (rectangle) images, the gallery preview on a post resizes to a square with the images inside as shown below:
However, with square images (Instagram images), the gallery preview does not resize to include the multiple images inside:
The gallery preview only shows two squares in two columns and does not resize to a smaller square in order to fit all the images.
How can I make it so that it will resize properly? Hope I explained the issue correctly, thank you so much, Paul!November 16, 2016 at 3:40 pm #467
As of now, I don’t get what the issue is. However it’s always best to see than to read ) Can you please create a page that has this issue? You can create it (as a page, not a post) and just not place it on the menu. So only the people who know the link will see it. Then please post the link here. Thank you.
I tried following https://www.filmandwander.com/akashi-nyc, but there seems to be nothing now.November 16, 2016 at 3:44 pm #468
Also, are you adding those Instagram images the same way that you added the Luzern pics in your screenshot, are you doing it some other way (e.g. a special plugin, etc.)?November 16, 2016 at 3:51 pm #469
Yes, I’m adding them the same way I’ve added the Switzerland pictures; by going to the post and then adding a gallery.
You can see the posts here:
It’s password protected:
Switzerland post – Switzerland1234
Akashi NYC post – Akashi1234
If you see the Akashi post, the image gallery is not resized to a smaller thumbnail. Does that make sense?
Please let me know if you can see the posts correctly, thanks again, Paul!
** For both posts, I used the image gallery to add the pictures. You can see that the Luzern post with 5 pictures resizes them into one square, however, the Akashi post with 8 images does not resize into one square. The Akashi post has 2 columns with 4 rows instead. It doesn’t matter how many pictures are in the gallery, it will not resize. **

I can not see the Akashi post. Can you please provide the URL of the post (not of the site)?
Maybe it hasn’t been published. Please check.November 16, 2016 at 3:56 pm #472November 16, 2016 at 4:04 pm #473
Ok, I can see it now.
The gallery with the sushi is working exactly as it is in the Switzerland post. All images are nicely stacked side by side. You can click an image and go into light-box mode. I don’t see any issues.
If you actually meant ‘cropping’ and not ‘resizing’, there is nothing to crop here as the images are already square.
The galleries in this theme display square images. When you upload the Switzerland pics, special cropped square previews are created. Here the images are square from the start. So there’s nothing to crop here.
Please also notice that when you add an odd number of images to a gallery (you have 5 in the Switzerland post), the last row has 3 images. And when you add an even number (you have 8 in the sushi gallery), the last row has 2 images. This is done this way so that the images always stack up.November 16, 2016 at 4:12 pm #474
Sorry, I may a bit slow today. I really don’t see the issue.
Can you please elaborate on it and send a whole page screenshot of the page where you see it?
Thank you.November 16, 2016 at 4:12 pm #475
Now I understand, thank you for the explanation. When I made the Akashi post with an odd number of pictures, it was the same as the Luzern post. I can now see how the stacking works in the theme, thank you so much.
I think I will have to keep the image gallery with an odd number of images moving forward. Again, thank you for the prompt response!November 16, 2016 at 4:15 pm #476
Just in case you ever need a photography portfolio theme, be sure to consider this one — https://themeforest.net/item/bild-a-focused-wordpress-photography-theme/13281125. I’ve released it several days ago.
Take care.November 16, 2016 at 4:17 pm #478
That is a really nice theme you’ve made; I wish you had this theme a few weeks ago before I bought the storyteller, ha!
Quick question, will you be adding features or updating the Storyteller theme? I see the Photography theme has a feature to change fonts and such.
Thanks again!November 16, 2016 at 4:20 pm #479
Actually, if your site is primarily a blog, the Storyteller should be a better fit.
As for the features, I’m leaving Storyteller as it is. Simple, with less things to break )
