I’d like to thank you for your theme, it’s simple without all the bloated content that you find on most themes.
GTMetrix examined my website :
This page has 8 external stylesheets. Try combining them into one.

That would be great Paul thank you.

Marcus, the demo of the theme works pretty fast regardless of all the stuff you’ve mentioned. This all actually is not as important as lazy loading. If I were you, I would start with the following:
1. Make sure you’re using the version of the theme that supports lazy loading (Stills 1.3+). Turn it on (Jetpack > Settings > Performance > Enable Lazy Loading for images).
2. Reduce the size of the gifs as much as possible.
3. Make sure you are using a good hosting.
All these caching plugins, minified scripts, and other stuff — I don’t use it, and the demo runs fast. Just because of the lazy loading. “Minify your scripts and use caching” — is a generic site-bloating type of answer (imho).

Thanks for your response.
I will look into the lazy loading that you recommend. I’m sure this will improve the experience for users when the site loads images.
I have another WordPress website running on my host server http://www.realdesigns.info, it is super fast so its not a problem with the host.
BTW I used to sell a theme on themeforest and had over 1200 sales I appreciate the time that goes into building themes and I appreciate the time you have already spent on yours.

Hi, pain in the butt isn’t it! The site hasnt been optimised for js/css loading and makes over 60 calls which is why it takes forever to load. My advice is to use Autoptimize plugin. It combines scripts and css into one file and loads like a dream.
I had problems on both desktop and mobile. I would have thought desktop would take longer too..
Hope this helps.

Thanks Marcus, I have installed that plugin and it does seem to be helping.May 27, 2020 at 8:01 pm #3970MEParticipant
I have the same issue. Since installing the new theme my site got super slow. I never had issues before but now it takes ages to load the site. I am using Autootpimize for some time already but don’t have the feeling it helps. Is there anything specific I need to check? Thanks so much for your help. I really don’t know what I can do. Celia, please see my reply in this thread: https://mauer.co/topic/loading-speed-image-size
In a word, you have overridden the thumbnail sizes with a third-party plugin and started showing full-size images where thumbnails should be used. That led to pages as heavy as 23 Megabytes. Please see the solution in the linked thread.
